It took nearly 20 years to build the hotel due to the intervention of the second World War.

Originally it opened with 52 rooms but this was enlarged with new wings built in 1971 and 1982 to bring the number to 203.

It had a US$20 million refurbishment that was completed in 2010.

One of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World- The World Famous UNESCO Heritage Listed Iguacu Falls which consist of 275 waterfalls extending over 3 km in a 700,000 acre tropical rainforest. All but 3 of the falls are on the Argentinean side which means the best views are from the Brazilian side.
