First built in 1890. A second one was built in 1893 when the first one burnt down. Another couple of fires followed. Today's building was built in 1912.

Lake Louise is known as the birthplace of Canadian mountaineering. They were taught by Swiss mountaineers who were brought over after some locals had died. They also taught the Canadians how to ski.

It was closed in WWII but scientists came up to try and develop a secret weapon
