Not Cheap but there is nowhere else like them

Vagar - Mykines - Stremoy - Eysturoy - Bordoy - Vidoy - Kunoy - Kalsoy - Suduroy & Nolsoy out of 18 Islands

Denmark has signed the Shengen Agreement so 90 countries don't need visas and 150 countries do. In 2022 those 90 countries will need to get an online ETIAS authorisation. Check your local embassy to be sure

Very Expensive. If there are at least two of you it will be much cheaper to do it on your own. If you are travelling solo it may be cheaper to look at package tours.

There are budget options like dorm beds and camping and public transport is good.

Rental cars are over $150 a day and that is the starting price for hotels too. A restaurant meal could set you back $80, a bottle of wine $50 and beers start around $12.

50,000

Faroe Islands means Sheep Islands

  • About

Book Everything in Advance (Hotels, Car, Ferries, Boat Trips, Helicopter, Restaurants)

Because there is such a range between hotel prices and what you get for your money it's probably best to go through and have a look for your self. Pick up a car at the airport

and drop it back there in about 6 days. Towns aren't that large and you'll have the car to get around. Parking at the hotels shouldn't be a problem. Go to Booking.com or Airbnb and book your hotels in each town for the relevant nights. All islands have a few outstanding sights to see. Go online and visit the tourist office when you get there and pick out the ones you most want to see. With the time allotted in each place you should be able to see most everything.

Spend a couple of nights near the airport in Sorvagar. There are two very good walks to do from here as well as a day trip to a neighbouring island and a Puffin Colony. As well as the first and only Michelin starred restaurant in the islands.

Spend a couple of nights in the charming and colourful capital, Torshavn. Check out the Old Town, a neighbouring island and some horse riding if you so desire. Hire a car and have a look at the best sights on the island.

Head off down the road for a few days to see the rest of the islands connected by tunnels and causeways. Stay in a couple of different towns. See STAY below.

Take the car back to the airport then catch the bus back at the capital Torshavn for the night. The next day take the ferry down to Souuroy the most southern island. You might want to rent a car for another 2 days when you arrive at Tvoroyri. This is where you will be staying. Two days looking around here then one last look at paradise from above as your helicopter takes you back towards the airport to fly out. (Or you could fly down when you drop the car off and then catch the ferry back to the capital after a couple of days)

Go -

June - August is peak season with long warm days. Once September begins everything stops. Mykines Puffin season is 1st May to August 31st.

For something different come here for Christmas and New Years. With a bit of luck the place will be covered in snow. Cheap accommodation and rental cars. Celebrate the season with the locals. Bring your thermals. 5 hours of sunlight per day.

  • Airports -

The only airport is Vagar International Airport (FAE) - on Vagar Island

which has direct flights to 11 destinations in 6 countries all in Europe. The main ones are Paris, Reykjavik, Edinburgh, Oslo, Copenhagen and Barcelona.

It is serviced by 2 airlines and has direct flights to numerous European locations. Flights vary between 1 - 3 hours.

Atlantic Airways is the official airline of the Faroe Islands.

Flights are short,

direct and relatively cheap from Edinburgh in Scotland. Plus you can add on a few days to enjoy the delights of Edinburgh or Glasgow.

There is a subsidized helicopter service which is a great way to see the islands. It is for the locals so tourists are expected to use it in one direction and use the ferry in the other. It is good value and the views are amazing.

  • Ferries -

You can catch the MS Dorrona a ferry that sails between Iceland, Denmark and the Faroe Islands. Once a week in low season and twice in peak season. it takes 37 hours and you can put your car on it.

Car ferries travel between the islands that aren't connected by tunnels. Often there is two or more a day. There is usually plenty of room on them and you should get there an hour beforehand if you have a car. The ferry to Mykines can be busy and should be pre booked.

Or ask at the tourist information centres - i on a green field.
